Let’s Practice the Developpé

Hi!  Welcome back to my blog.

Today, we’re going to learn about a ballet step called “developpé”.

A  developpé is a movement in which the working leg is drawn up to the knee of the supporting leg and from there smoothly out to a position in the air.

Here is a picture of a dancer completing a developpé into second position.

Of course, a person (or mouse) would have to be pretty strong to get her leg that high!

I found a video that shows how to do this step.

These girls are doing a developpé to second position and to the arabesque position.  Did you recognize the positions?

Here is a picture for you to color:

Ask your mom or dad to print out the picture for you.  I know you remembered to say “please” and “thank  you”.

Please come back next week.  We’ll talk about some more ballet steps.

See you soon.
