Let’s Review Fifth Position

Hi!  Welcome back to my blog.

Today we’re going to talk about fifth position arms and feet.  It’s been awhile since we looked at pictures of ballet students demonstrating the fifth position in ballet.  Below is a picture of a student holding her arms in fifth position en haute which means to hold your arms in fifth position over your head.

Here is a student holding her arms in 5th position en bas.  This means holding your arms in a low 5th position.

The ballerina above is standing in fifth position also but here is a bigger picture of the proper positioning of the feet.

Now, you try it.  Remember you will need to learn both the fifth position arms en bas and en haute.

I found another picture for you to color.  Ask your mom or dad to print it out for you.  don’t forget to say “please” and “thank you.”  Click on the link below and it will open in a new window.

I’m going to go practice my foot and arm positions now.  See you next week.
