What is the First Position in Ballet?

Welcome back to my blog!

Today we’re going to learn about the first position in ballet class.

Arms and feet have different positions that every dancer must learn.

Here is a picture of a dancer with her feet in first position:

Her heels are close together and her toes are pointed out.  See?

There is also a first position for arms.  Here is a picture of a girl holding her arms in first position:

Her arms are curved but not bent and her fingers almost touch in front of her chest.

Here is a video for you to watch:

Ask your mom or dad to print out this picture for you so you can color it (don’t forget to say “thank you”)

Please come back to visit me next week.  We are going to learn about the second ballet position for feet and arms.
